What nightmares are made of: Alone and sleeping in your tent in the middle of the night, miles from civilization with no escape other than the bike you rode on in. Suddenly you’re woken by the sound of heavy bipedal footsteps slowly coming through the bush towards you. It stops just outside the tent and the moment it exhales, you realize it’s not human. You then have the tent crushed down on top of you. Anyone who has slept in a tent in Yowie country, has dreaded being in this situation. It occurred not far away from our story from Dufty’s Beach, on the Murray River two weeks ago. This scary encounter could have ended so much worse.
