Currently Playing: Reveal.js Download, Setup and Easy Introduction

In this video we download, install and setup reveal.js, which is a free open source power point alternative. Reveal.js allows us to make slide shows which we can display in the browser of our choice. We can create and edit new slides using html, css and javascript. Installing git/npm: Windows: winget install --id Git.Git -e winget install --id OpenJS.NodeJS.LTS -e Mac: brew install git brew install node Note installing these on mac requires brew, which can be installed using: /bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/HEAD/install.sh)" Linux (ubuntu/kubuntu, other OS's may differ): sudo apt install git sudo apt install nodejs npm Installing reveal.js: git clone https://github.com/hakimel/reveal.js.git Then change directory into the new reveal.js folder using: cd reveal.js And run: npm install npm start One thing I forgot to mention in the video is that while we can access the reveal slideshow using either [::1]:8000 or localhost:8000, using local host is recommended as it will auto update when we make changes to the index.html file. It seems that reveal.js's auto-loader does not work with a IPv6 literal ([::1]:8000 is a IPv6 literal) #revealjs #presentationsoftware #opensource #free #learnwebdev #webdevelopment #slideshowmaker
