We can write a simple shell script that allows us to open SillyTavern by simply clicking on an icon instead of having to go into terminal every time we want to use it! In this video we go over how we make this shell script, and what every part of it does, that way there is no mystery, and hopefully you will understand it well enough that you will even be able to make shell scripts to automate other actions on your mac as well, whether it is opening open source software, or running python scripts. For your convenience I have included the entirety our shell script bellow (I'm pretty sure YouTube doesn't use markdown, but I can't bring myself to paste it without it 😅) Just make sure that if you are copying the script from here you replace `file_path_goes_here` with the exact path to your SillyTavern directory. ```sh #!/bin/bash clear ST_DIR=$"file_path_goes_here" if [ ! -d "$ST_DIR" ]; then echo "Error: Silly Tavern directory not found" echo "Expected directory location: $ST_DIR" read -p "Press ENTER to exit..." osascript -e 'tell application "Terminal" to close front window' & exit 1 fi cd "$ST_DIR" echo "System: Navigated to $(pwd)" if [ ! -d "node_modules" ]; then echo "Error: node_modules not found" read -p "Press ENTER to exit..." osascript -e 'tell application "Terminal" to close front window' & exit 1 fi npm start read -p "Press ENTER to close..." osascript -e 'tell application "Terminal" to close front window' & exit 0 ``` If you need help setting up SillyTavern on your Mac you can refer to this video: https://youtu.be/HS3OSG4JsC4 This was my first video so please bare with me, my skills at making these tutorials are very gradually increasing. #sillytavern #tutorial #shell #bash #coding #scripting #easy #automation
