"The idea of this song was born from the experiences where I found myself not so in control of my emotions and from the self-reflections I then applied to try and understand them. I believe mistakes can be our greatest teacher, so long as we're open to learn from them. The song focuses on the strength of empathy and learning to listen, which empowers others." "It has a slight jazz lilt to it," says Geoff. "But then, of course, it breaks away into more of a rocky section and then comes back in. It's a great way to finish off the album. Jon feels very comfortable in what he's doing. He has really come to the fore on this album, bringing some very complex, very intelligent songwriting." "Curtis and I spent ages working on EQ across this album," explains Steve. 'Emotional Intelligence' is a great example of that. We just kept polishing and improving it to get to a final mix stage where you've lived with this for quite a while, seen it grow and made it sound as good as it deserves."
