Somna doesn't just put enemies to sleep or transform them into sheep β€” she can also crush enemy damage, weaken healing, and control entire teams in ways that are much harder to counter than they first appear. In this video, we're breaking down exactly what Somna does in real battles, which heroes counter her, which heroes synergize best with her, and why she may become one of the most dangerous control heroes in Hero Wars: Dominion Era. πŸ”₯ WHAT THIS VIDEO IS ABOUT Somna is officially classified as a Control hero, but after testing her extensively in the Arena, I think that description only tells part of the story. She deals physical damage, applies the new Sleepiness mechanic, transforms enemies into sheep, and can dramatically reduce the effectiveness of enemy heroes once enough stacks are applied. But the biggest discovery from my testing is that Somna may also function as a powerful support hero. Her kit can weaken enemy Physical Attack and Magic Attack, which means she doesn't just reduce damage β€” she can also reduce healing from heroes whose healing scales with Magic Attack. That creates some extremely interesting matchups. 😴 SOMNA'S CONTROL IS HARD TO STOP One of the first questions every Hero Wars player is asking is: Who counters Somna? Based on my testing, Sebastian is currently the most important answer. Sebastian can remove Somna's Sleepiness effects and the transformations connected to them. Khorus, on the other hand, does not appear to stop Somna's control in the same way. That makes Sebastian extremely important when building teams to face Somna. If Somna becomes common in Arena and Guild War defenses, understanding this counter could save you a lot of failed attacks. ❄️ SOMNA + POLARIS SYNERGY One of the strongest synergies I found during testing is Somna with Polaris. Polaris's Northern Lights can extend some of Somna's control effects. While Somna's ultimate is not extended, her Counting Sheep transformation can last significantly longer. Normally, an enemy transformed into a sheep stays that way for 5 seconds. With Polaris's Northern Lights active, that duration can increase to around 8 seconds. That's a huge difference. In Hero Wars, a few extra seconds of control can completely change the outcome of a battle. A hero who cannot attack, use skills, or activate an ultimate for 8 seconds can become a massive liability for the enemy team. πŸ›‘οΈ SOMNA IS MORE THAN A CONTROL HERO This is where things get really interesting. Somna's Dream Armor doesn't just protect and strengthen her frontline ally. Her Sleepiness effects can also dramatically reduce enemy Physical Attack and Magic Attack. In my testing, the reduction appears to be roughly 25,000 per stack. And because Sleepiness can stack up to 3 times, that could mean a total reduction of around 75,000 Physical or Magic Attack. Think about what that means. A hero like Dante, who relies heavily on Physical Attack, can become significantly weaker. Heroes like Amira can lose a huge portion of their damage output. And physical attackers like Tristan can see their damage collapse once those stacks build up.
