I spent days testing it hero by hero in Combat Training, and at first I honestly thought it was broken. The damage numbers looked identical. Nothing seemed to change. But once I found the hidden mechanic behind it, everything made sense. The War Flag of Steel Storm is set to release on July 24th during the Emerald City event, and it will be available to players who purchase the Emerald City ticket. Before you invest in it, though, you need to understand exactly how this war flag works, which heroes can trigger it, and the surprising exceptions I found during testing. 🔥 WHAT THIS VIDEO IS ABOUT The official Steel Storm description says that when an allied hero deals Physical damage to multiple enemies with a single ability, all affected enemies take additional damage equal to 12% of the original amount. Each inserted red pattern adds another 3%. That sounds simple, right? Use an AoE Physical damage skill and the skill should hit harder. That is exactly what I expected too. So I tested heroes like Lara Croft, Dante, Chabba, Tristan, Galahad, K'arkh, Iris, and many more. At first, I compared the main skill damage with and without Steel Storm equipped. And the numbers looked the same. That nearly made me conclude the new Hero Wars war flag was broken. But the real mechanic is completely different. Steel Storm does not increase the damage number of the original skill. Instead, it creates a separate instance of Pure Damage roughly one second after the original Physical damage lands. Once I started watching specifically for that delayed second hit, the entire picture changed. 💡 KEY TAKEAWAYS ✅ Steel Storm creates a separate Pure Damage hit instead of increasing the original skill damage. ✅ The bonus is based on the actual final damage of the triggering hit, so stronger hits can lead to stronger Steel Storm damage. ✅ Critical hits can increase the value of the extra damage because the bonus is calculated from the final hit. ✅ Other factors like buffs, artifacts, pets, patterns, and your hero's stats can also affect the final value. ✅ Steel Storm only activates when Physical damage successfully affects multiple enemies. During testing, I confirmed Steel Storm interactions with many Hero Wars heroes. Lara Croft can trigger it with Power of the Tombs and Steady Shot. Dante triggers it with Instrument of Fate. K'arkh triggers it with Deadly Tendrils. Iris triggers it through Otherworldly Creature. Tristan triggers it with Sacred Rage. Chabba can trigger it with Burp, while Galahad activates it with Iron Skies. Somna can trigger Steel Storm with Counting Sheep, Artemis with Smart Arrow, Isaac with High-Voltage Module, and Keira through Dancing Blades. Other confirmed heroes include Adam, Ginger, Guus, Luther, Daredevil, and Qing Mao. ⚡ THE MOST INTERESTING HEROES The most surprising interactions come from heroes who can trigger Steel Storm through basic attacks. Dark Star is one of the best examples. Her Partner skill creates a shadow after each shot, allowing her attack to connect with another enemy. Because of that interaction, Dark Star can potentially trigger Steel Storm extremely often instead of relying only on cooldown-based abilities. Kayla also has a very interesting interaction because her basic attack can connect with multiple heroes. And then there is Keira. Keira's normal basic attack does not naturally hit multiple enemies, but Dancing Blades changes how her attacks behave and allows them to ricochet across the enemy team. That means these heroes can potentially gain far more consistent value from Steel Storm than heroes who only activate it through one specific ability.
