Porsche 356/718 Frankenstein build.

We dragged home what’s barely a Porsche 356 – a chopped up shell with missing floors, hacked panels, and a roof held on with tape. But we’ve got BIG plans. Think Porsche 356 meets modern performance.

Currently Playing: THE PORSCHE SUPERCAR PUZZLE NOBODY ASKED FOR

We finish the custom roll cage for our one-of-one Porsche 356 / 718 supercar build and replace key structural components Porsche originally built into the factory body. We also answer viewer questions, prove the engine cover can still open, cut the roof off again, and share detailed fabrication tips along the way. This isn’t just a simple cage installation. We’re building a complete structural system around a heavily modified Porsche chassis, combining a classic 356 body with modern Porsche 718 underpinnings. That means every tube, bracket, joint, and reinforcement has to work with the original body structure, the modern chassis, the suspension load paths, and the future safety requirements of the finished car. We also answer some of the most common questions from the comment section, including how we’ll still access the engine cover, how the roof comes back off, and why certain factory Porsche components have to be removed, redesigned, or replaced during a build like this. As always, we go deep into the fabrication process, sharing real workshop tips on roll cage design, tube fit-up, structural planning, welding preparation, body alignment, and how to think through complex custom metalwork before cutting too far. This Porsche project is part restoration, part restomod, part engineering experiment, and part coachbuilt supercar. The goal is not just to make a classic Porsche look modern — it’s to build a properly engineered, driveable, high-performance one-off car using professional bodywork, fabrication, and design studio thinking. If you’re interested in Porsche restoration, custom car fabrication, roll cage construction, metal shaping, chassis engineering, welding, bodywork, or high-end restomod builds, this episode is packed with detail. We’re not just putting a body on a chassis. We’re trying to solve the Porsche supercar puzzle nobody asked for. ________________________________________ Subscribe for more: Follow along as we combine a classic Porsche 356 body with a modern Porsche 718 platform to create a one-of-one custom Porsche restomod using professional fabrication, restoration, bodywork, and automotive design techniques.
