We dragged home what’s barely a Porsche 356 – a chopped up shell with missing floors, hacked panels, and a roof held on with tape. But we’ve got BIG plans. Think Porsche 356 meets modern performance.

PART 26. In this episode we keep pushing forward with the ridiculous job of hiding a modern Porsche underneath a classic one. After deciding on building a Left Hand Drive car we can commit to mounting the steering column, pedal box, steering rack and steering shaft. Search Melomotive The idea sounds simple enough — take the good bits from a 2019 Porsche 718 and make them work under a 1963 Porsche 356 body. But as usual, once you actually start doing it, every little area turns into its own problem to solve. We’re fabricating more of the missing pieces, working out how the old and new parts can live together, and trying to do it in a way that still respects how Porsche actually built these cars. The goal isn’t just to make it fit. It has to make sense structurally, mechanically, and visually. Once the hardware is mounted we get into the Sheetmetal firewall, or is called a bulkhead on a Porsche with a mid-mount motor? There’s a fair bit of problem solving in this one — sheet metal work, measuring, trimming, thinking, re-thinking, and trying not to make a mess of two perfectly good Porsche ideas. And as usual a Melomotive video video wouldn’t be complete without a tech tip, so this video has an Easter egg with a Pullmax tool to handle all your tube beading sizes. This is the part of the build where the flashy idea meets the reality of fabrication. This isn’t your average Porsche restoration. It’s what happens when old-world craftsmanship meets precision modern fabrication — all documented step by step. #PorscheFrankenstein #PorscheRestoration #356Restomod #718Conversion #Coachbuilding #ClassicCarBuild #WeldingSkills #MetalFabrication #BarnFind #RebuildACarFromScratch #RestorationSeries #BodyworkTips #RestoringAClassic
