It’s panic stations as Veronica and Kev start cleaning furiously. A few hours later and ten year old Eric (Oliver Hudson) is delivered by scatty social worker Marisa Platting (Karen Henthorn). He’s here to stay for a couple of weeks on a try out for Kev and Veronica. They hadn’t expected a foster child so soon and Carol and Marty have to be hurriedly sent round to stay next door, much to the annoyance of the Gallaghers. The first day with Eric doesn’t go well when he collapses at the breakfast table. They rush to hospital in Steve’s car but on the way the boy comes round and it transpires that he’d passed out after munching on the leftovers of last nights hash cake. Just at that moment Steve realises that they’re being tailed by a police car and they all have to make a hasty escape as Steve confesses the vehicle is stolen.
