Hi Fever-ites, while you patiently await my Elephant Yarn, I have a story about a True Prospector: Poppy. You can really feel his magnetic personality in this video pulling in the nuggets, and that's what it takes to find gold. You don't need to be schooled in geology, or have all the latest and greatest detecting gear. You just need a positive and sunny outlook. So Poppy was a godsend: he loved the bush, a cool drink at the end of the day ... And could find gold! He was the perfect prospecting Mate. I hope you enjoy my story and find some inspiration. These days, you must carry a sat phone on you at all times, when you leave camp. I have an EPIRB on my belt too. And matches to light the biggest fire on a nearby hill. Every year there are stories about lost prospectors, some end well but most don't. Especially in the heat of the summer. Yea, we have some deadly snakes in WA, but it's the other things that will take you out. Like petrol being too close to the fire, negotiating the roads alongside monster vehicles, swerving on a dirt road to avoid wildlife, and getting lost. So please take care out there.
