Curated by: Prospecting 101 For Gold (99 videos)
G'Day ! In this video we used a D7 bulldozer to test the deep ground at our extremely rich Honeypot gold mine. This happened in 2007, our third year after discovering this amazing gold occurrence ( I hope that you have seen the other videos in my Youtube library about the Discovery, Digging the Reef, and Treating The Ore ). So we started dozing long lines across the known shed of nuggets and specimens, looking for a concentration and path which would indicate a deep lead - where an ancient creek carried and deposited gold. We found such a deep channel, as indicated by big specimens that were encrusted in a calcrete/cement which is known in this region of Western Australia as the Wiluna Hardpan (its thickness can be several inches, to 30 metres). We needed two attempts to cut through this extremely hard layer of cement with the jack hammer ! Unfortunately I don't have any photos of what we found other than of the 40 ounce (gold content) whopper we called "The Grouper". As mentioned, the drilling which our Joint Venture partner executed (in a 'scissors' drill ie one hole on each side of the reef) was a duffer, the best grade was 0.1 grams per ton. Maybe we should have paid more attention to this poor result which was to indicate what was to be expected under our digging. So .... Many thanks for your interest in my videos, I really appreciate it. I go in the remote bush from April to October each year where there is no internet reception, so I'll be fairly sporadic in my uploads and responses to your comments. Don't worry! I'm out there getting some great content for the next go-around. Cheerio ....
