They brought commerce, agriculture, and growth to Bangkok- and before that, to Ayutthaya- and it's on the canals where some of the Kingdom's most beloved dishes were born or spread. Today, tens of thousands of tourists each week visit the famous floating markets- and what they see is closer to Disneyland than authentic heritage.
