On January 1, 2023, in Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, deputies stopped a 19-year-old man from Tennessee after witnesses reported that he was posing as a police officer. The man was wearing a sheriff-branded tactical vest, duty-style clothing, and other police equipment, despite only having worked in a Tennessee jail and having no law-enforcement authority outside the facility.
