#WhiteCrane #Karate #WingChun #HungGa #KungFu #MartialArtsHistory Did Fujian White Crane influence Karate, Wing Chun and Hung Ga? Fujian White Crane is a Southern Chinese martial art that developed in Fujian and became part of a much wider network of Chinese martial arts that spread through Southern China, Okinawa, Taiwan and Southeast Asia. In this investigation, I trace the history of Fujian White Crane, examine its connections to Hung Ga, Okinawan Karate and Wing Chun, and separate the documented evidence from later martial arts legends. This isn't a simple origin story. The evidence is much stronger for some connections than others, and the similarities between these martial arts don't always prove a direct lineage. In this investigation: - How Fujian White Crane developed and spread beyond Fujian - The Tiger-Crane tradition of Hung Ga and its disputed connection to White Crane - The Fujian–Okinawa connection and the influence of White Crane on Goju-Ryu Karate - The similarities between White Crane and Wing Chun, including Chi Sau, short-range power and the centreline - What Butterfly Swords and the Long Pole can tell us about the wider martial culture of Southern China - Why similar techniques don't necessarily prove a direct lineage - What the real legacy of Fujian White Crane may be Chapters 00:00 — The Forgotten Kung Fu Style 00:24 — The Origins of Fujian White Crane 01:48 — Did White Crane Influence Hung Ga? 03:43 — The Fujian–Okinawa Connection 05:53 — Did White Crane Influence Wing Chun? 07:37 — Butterfly Swords and the Long Pole 08:32 — Three Connections, Three Different Answers 09:13 — What Is the Hidden Legacy of White Crane?
