Assault Shigaraki got some new changes in the new Season 16 2nd and a half anniversary patch of My Hero Ultra Rumble. Initially they gave him a shadow change that drastically increased his down power hurting his combo game, however the recent new patch reverted this. It does seem his beta and gamma got improvements that increased their hitstun too. This gives the character more / consistent combos he can go for such as using held gamma into beta more often now. I would personally usually go for the gamma without holding it more often for my combos but this change has me holding it far more and seeing just how insane the aoe on that attack is.
