Did Adolf Hitler escape to Argentina after World War II? The historical evidence shows he died in Berlin in 1945. On April 30, 1945, Adolf Hitler committed suicide in the Führerbunker in Berlin alongside Eva Braun as Soviet forces closed in on the city. Multiple eyewitnesses saw their bodies carried to the Reich Chancellery garden and burned. Soviet troops later recovered the remains. Hitler’s dental assistant and technician identified the jaw and bridgework using dental records — the most reliable forensic method available at the time. Later forensic analysis of the teeth held in Moscow confirmed that identification. Many senior Nazis did flee to South America after the war. But there is no evidence that Hitler was among them. In July 2025, newly rediscovered documents in the archives of the Argentine Supreme Court revealed Nazi material seized from German diplomats in 1941 — including propaganda, portraits of Hitler, and thousands of membership books from Nazi organisations. These records show Nazi activity in Argentina during the war, but they contain no evidence that Hitler survived or escaped Europe. The Argentine files reveal interesting details about Nazi networks in South America — but they do not change the historical consensus: Hitler died in Berlin in 1945, not Argentina after World War II.
