Dive into the chaotic world of 1990s mecha mayhem with my in-depth review of the newly reissued Metal Skin Panic MADOX-01 Blu-ray from Animeigo! This classic 1991 OVA, directed by the legendary Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed, Ghost in the Shell: Arise), follows gearhead Koji Kondo as he accidentally pilots a top-secret powered exoskeleton suit, sparking a wild chase through the city streets—complete with high-octane action, awkward romance, and that unmistakable '80s anime flair. In this review, I break down:Video & Audio Quality: Crystal-clear 1080p upgrade that makes the hand-drawn animation pop—vibrant colors, fluid mecha designs, and zero compression artifacts. Extras Galore: Two director commentary tracks (one with Aramaki himself!), cast interviews, the vintage "Weapons of MADOX" featurette, and dual UK/US dubs for that nostalgic hit. Overall Verdict: A short, punchy blast of fun that's perfect for mecha fans. Does it hold up 30+ years later? If you're a sucker for retro anime like Bubblegum Crisis or Patlabor, this one's a must-own.
