Before the Dragonborn can stop him, Kaidan confronts Brynolf about not telling either of them about the hit that Mercer tried to take out on the Dragonborn. The Dragonborn then shows Brynolf the plans she found at Mercer's. Brynolf thinks that Mercer is going after something called The Eyes of the Falmer, but first they need to speak with Karliah. Karliah explains that Mercer is a Nightingale, an agent of Nocturnal, and that they need to prepare themselves. She tells them to meet her near a small clearing just outside of Riften. After meeting her there, Brynolf and the Dragonborn follow Karliah inside to the legendary Nightingale Hall. There they make the hard decision to become Nightingales, Agents of Nocturnal.
