We left the island paradise of Koh Tao to travel overland to the far North of Thailand, Chiang Mai. We took a ferry from Koh Tao to Chumpon. Then we took a bus from Chumpon to Bangkok. After arriving in Bangkok at 9 p.m. we took an overnight night train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. The train ride from Bangkok to Chiang Mai took 14 hours, and unfortunately we got stuck in 3rd class! We didn't book our ticket for the overnight train ahead of time, so we when we arrived in Bangkok they only had 3rd class tickets available. It was impossible to sleep on the overnight train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai! By the time we arrive in Chiang Mai, Thailand, we were exhausted. However, we pulled ourselves out of bed and quickly fell in love with city of Chiang Mai! Traveling from Koh Tao to Chiang Mai overland was rough, but it was totally worth it!
