Subscribe, it's free! In the years following the Great War, the Enclave stood as a vision of America preserved. Isolated, technologically superior, and utterly convinced of its own legitimacy, it believed itself to be the rightful continuation of the United States. But by the mid-23rd century, that vision was already beginning to fracture. Even before the decline of the Enclave in the west, there were a number of deserters, including Dr. Henry, A. Ron Meyers, and William Brandice. Some deserted because they had become disillusioned with the Enclave and its ideology, while others were exposed to the open mainland for the first time in their life and realized they preferred it to The Enclave's more isolated, sterile environments. After The Chosen One destroyed Control Station ENCLAVE, The Enclave command structure was severely weakened, The President was no longer leading and the remaining personnel on the mainland, stationed at Navarro, were kind of left to their own devices. However, in 2242, the remainder of the command structure was contacted by John Henry Eden on the East Coast, and then led by Autumn Senior to Raven Rock, leaving Navarro with a skeleton crew. Now, The Enclave's actions in the region - terrorizing communities and kidnapping people - made them infamous in New California. Civilian casualties were acceptable, sometimes even encouraged among the troops. Naturally, factions within the region, like The NCR, took an extreme disliking to the Enclave, and they were dead set on making anyone associated with them pay for their actions, which usually meant standing trial and then serving a life sentence. While the Brotherhood, who also hated The Enclave, were more interested in capturing Navarro and capitalizing on its advanced technology, they did not have the military presence needed to do so, as the northern region where Navarro was located was a bit too far from their closest outpost in San Fran. In the end, the NCR did what the Brotherhood couldn’t - they overran Navarro, killing anyone who fought back, and the budding nation lay claim to the advanced technology within, along with important documents that hadn’t been destroyed – like the names of Enclave personnel, spelling disaster for anyone who had left the Enclave to lead new lives...
