Global petroleum and uranium supplies began to run dry in the mid-21st century, triggering a series of escalating international conflicts known as the Resource Wars. As energy resources disappeared, global trade collapsed and diplomacy gave way to force, as Nations competed aggressively for the last remaining oil fields, uranium deposits, and supply routes. For the United States, Alaska became increasingly vital, as the Alaskan oil pipeline represented one of the last significant domestic energy sources still under their control. By 2059, the United States had heavily fortified Alaska, anticipating a potential Chinese assault across the Bering Strait, aimed at seizing the pipeline and cutting off critical energy supplies. Soldiers stationed in the frozen north often struggled to maintain morale, enduring months of sub zero temperatures, endless blizzards, and relentless isolation that tested both body and spirit. Around this time, China discovered and claimed a large deep-sea oil deposit in the Pacific Ocean, a boon in these difficult times. However, the site was later sabotaged, and China accused U.S. special forces of carrying out the attack. Whether this accusation was true remains unclear, but it further escalated tensions between the two nations. The sabotage inflamed nationalist sentiment on both sides, fuelling propaganda campaigns, war rallies, and heightened security measures that spread anxiety throughout civilian populations. In response, China mobilized a massive attack force under the command of General Jingwei, invading northern Alaska in winter of 2066, seizing control of the oil pipelines and surrounding reserves.
