The Dead Space Remake. The Dead Space Remake (or Dead Space 2023) is faithful to its source material, with some tweaks here and there adding up to a different kind of experience with the core intact. On the gameplay front, there are a number of welcome additions from the sequels along with new additions. Some work better than others, and some are underutilized. The changes to the story in the Dead Space Remake are where more of the issues lie. Some are welcome additions in expanding what happened on the Ishimura. Isaac now having a voice is well-integrated. However, there are a number of tweaks to characters and their arcs that lack execution. A number of small changes miss their mark, along with performances that fall short of their original counterparts While it's an excellent title and remake, I'm not as high on the Dead Space remake as others have been. There is plenty to praise, but there are also a number of issues worth addressing. If you held a plasma cutter to my limbs and told me which one I prefer, I still consider the original the superior, tighter game.
