Currently Playing: Knight Bernahl, the true Champion closest to Elden throne ? Elden ring lore

#eldenring #loretosleepto There is a particular kind of ash that only gathers on the men who almost became gods. While everyone loves to say Vyke was the greatest of the Tarnished, I firmly believe Knight Bernahl walked even further down that ruinous road. Vyke aimed his spear at the throne, but Bernahl aimed his blade at something far grander: he wanted to watch the Erdtree burn to the ground. To understand how a champion’s faith curdled into such a cold, magnetic ambition, you have to go back to where his journey began. Long before he ever set foot in Volcano Manor, Bernahl was chosen by the Beastmen, clad in the unique Beast Champion armor as their primary horse in the race for Elden Lord. He roamed the lands alongside his finger maiden and carried the unspoken will of a lost brother, mastering every Ash of War in existence. But fate dealt him a devastating hand atop the Mountaintops of the Giants. In what I view as the single most heartbreaking act of divine treachery in the game, Bernahl watched his beloved finger maiden throw herself into the Flame of Ruin, burning alive because she was never a true Kindling Maiden to begin with. That moment broke something inside the old weapons master for good. Disillusioned by the Greater Will's machinery, Bernahl abandoned his quest for the throne and joined Lord Rykard’s blasphemous rebellion at Volcano Manor, quickly rising to become the guild's top Recusant hunter. From playing the wary mentor at Warmaster’s Shack to inviting us on a legendary hunt in Leyndell to cut down Vargram the Raging Wolf and Errant Sorcerer Wilhelm, Bernahl accepted the dirty work of his path without flinching. Even after Rykard was slain, Bernahl didn't falter. He inherited the warlock demigod's final legacy, wielding the Devourer’s Scepter and the Blasphemous Claw, a relic infused with the Rune of Death gifted by Ranni to parry Maliketh himself. When we finally confront him amidst the crumbling storms of Farum Azula, Bernahl isn't standing there as a simple villain. He is a man who lost everything to a god’s cruel joke and decided to swing his sword anyway, using secret passages to reach the Sky City and prove that meaning isn't something you are granted, it's something you carve out of ash, grudges, and sheer, unyielding resolve.
