Currently Playing: Starship is an Orbital Vehicle! (But Engine Problems Persist) | Flight 14 Review

SpaceX Starship Flight 14 marked the program’s first true orbital attempt as Super Heavy Booster 21 and Ship 41 lifted off from Starbase on September 28, 2026, carrying 26 operational Starlink V3 satellites. After a sunrise launch, hot-staging, and a cautious go-for-orbit decision following early Raptor shutdowns, Ship 41 completed an insertion burn, deployed Starlink Group 31-1, then left orbit early out of an abundance of caution and executed a controlled reentry and flip-and-burn splashdown north of Hawaii, while Booster 21 returned to a Gulf splashdown after a simulated catch. This NSF recap covers the delayed path to orbit, engine anomalies, payload deployment, abort contingencies, and what this step forward & historic result means for the next Starship flights, tower catches, Starlink, and Artemis. 🤵 Hosted by Ryan Caton (@DPodDolphinPro). 🖊️ Written by Ryan Caton (@DPodDolphinPro). 🎥 Video from Magnus Bergheim, Colleen Liedtke, D Wise, Starbase Live, Space Coast Live, BocaChicaGal, Nomadd, SpaceX. ✂️ Edited by Ryan Caton (@DPodDolphinPro). 💼 Produced by Kevin Michael Reed (@kmreed).
