Currently Playing: Was 9 Months of Launch Delays Worth It? Isar Certainly Delivered!

Isar Aerospace’s Spectrum rocket reached orbit on its second flight from Andøya Space in Norway on 5 September 2026, becoming the first European launch vehicle to achieve orbit from Continental European soil, and the first to do so worldwide on propane and liquid oxygen. After a March 2025 debut that lasted about 30 seconds and a 2026 campaign marked by multiple scrubs, the nine Aquila engines flew a clean first-stage profile through Max-Q and MECO, the vacuum-optimized upper stage ignited on its first time in space, and a circularization burn enabled successful deployment of five CubeSats plus one experiment into sun-synchronous orbit on the Onward and Upward mission. This video covers the endless delays, the Flight 1 failure and lessons, the polar jellyfish views from high-latitude Andøya, payload deployment, and what Spectrum’s early success means for European sovereign launch capability as other continental small-launch efforts remain on the ground. 🤵 Hosted by Ryan Caton (@DPodDolphinPro). 🖊️ Written by Ryan Caton (@DPodDolphinPro). 🎥 Video from Max Evans, D Wise, Isar Aerospace, SpaceX, Rocket Factory Augsburg, PLD Space. ✂️ Edited by Ryan Caton (@DPodDolphinPro). 💼 Produced by Kevin Michael Reed (@kmreed).
