The more you can resist the monological thinking of digital culture, the more you’ll be able to think poetically, mythologically, or in J.R.R. Tolkien’s terms, mythopoetically. If the creative power of culture is going to be strengthened, we need to recover our symbolic imagination, that is to say, our capacity to read art as dynamically engaging with the patterns of human consciousness and experience. Although divination and fortune-telling isn’t the focus of this course, each arcanum corresponds to patterns throughout world literature. Lectures will show how each number and card enfolds a particular aspect of human consciousness and development which can be mapped onto narrative patterns and character archetypes. So the lectures will focus on where those arcana are revealed in literature. Here by popular demand, this lecture series begins in April! https://versedcommunity.mn.co/ The Symbolic Imagination 0:00-1:30 My approach to Tarot 1:30-2:25 The Fool 2:25-3:43 The Lady Pope 3:43-4:30 The Empress 4:30-6:26 Why the tarot? 6:26-12:07 What is an arcanum? 12:07-23:35
