Follow me as I trace the origins of the romantic solitary type in English literature. Though I could have started with the Greeks or perhaps even the characters of Shakespeare in this video, I chose to focus on the immediate sources of the attitude English Romantic poets adopted and developed in response to the many instabilities of the late 18th, and 19th century, and discuss how this attitude came to dominate our conception of what a poet is today.
