I recently joined a Christmas outreach in Tokyo and spent time talking with people who have been living on the streets for a long time. One of them, Omiya-san, has been homeless for around 20 years. I went there thinking I would learn what they were missing, or what kind of help they needed. What I heard — and what I felt — was very different from what I expected. This video isn’t about fixing homelessness or giving answers. It’s about listening. I helped with the outreach, talked with several people, and later spent time drinking and talking with Omiya-san about daily life, loneliness, money, food, and what “home” really means. Everyone’s situation is different, and this is just one person’s story. But the calmness, honesty, and perspective he shared stayed with me.
