What started as a simple project to get a modern OS running on my 2005 Power Mac G5 quickly spiraled into something much cooler (and louder). In this video, we dig out the legendary "Cheese Grater" Mac, struggle through some OS installations, and accidentally discover that Java 8 still runs surprisingly well on PowerPC architecture. Naturally, there was only one thing left to do: Turn this 20-year-old beast into a public Minecraft server. We go from stock Mac OS X to Adélie Linux, and finally to a fully optimised Paper 1.8.8 server proxied through AWS. ⛏️ JOIN THE SERVER! You can play on this machine right now.
