We CANCELLED The $1.8 Million Biogas Upgrade... And Bought Land Instead! Welcome to Episode 42 of the Farming Simulator 25 Mega Farm series on the Judith Plains Montana 4X map! For the last year we’ve been saving for a $1.8 million biogas plant upgrade, but the numbers forced us to completely change direction. The biogas plant consumes huge amounts of silage, and our dairy cows need that same silage for the TMR mix. Some cow barns are now using around 170,000 liters of TMR every month, while milk production has climbed to over $600,000 in milk sales every month. With more cows, more TMR and more silage needed, the Mega Farm simply doesn’t have enough. So instead of upgrading the biogas plant, we invest the money into more land. We buy 4 new fields that will eventually be joined into one large alfalfa field, while the existing alfalfa and clover fields will be combined into a much larger clover field. The goal is to dramatically increase silage production and support both the dairy farm and the biogas plant long term.
