The Cummins Limo is back… and this year we’re taking it to Norway! It’s been a few months since we last properly checked in on the Daimler, and while I’ve been busy with other projects, Peter has been quietly making a load of improvements. He’s built a completely new custom dashboard, repaired and tidied a mountain of wiring, fitted heaters and screen washers, upgraded the injectors, built a proper fan shroud and generally gone through the plumbing and all the little jobs we never had time to finish properly last year. With the limo seemingly better than ever, there was only one thing to do… put it on the dyno! The old Cummins managed a healthy 280hp, which is about as much as we want considering the clutch is only rated for around 300hp. Unfortunately, once we got it home and put it on the ramp, things weren’t looking quite so healthy underneath… Leaking fuel lines, completely destroyed front brakes, a sump that’s been making contact with the road and, best of all, the torque from the Cummins has managed to crack the rear subframe. Still, compared to what we had to fix before last year’s road trip, this should be easy… probably. We’ve now got one month to get everything fixed and ready before we point the Cummins Limo north and attempt another completely unnecessary European road trip — this time to Norway.
