I’m building our dream home and homestead from scratch on 18 acres in the Canadian wilderness — learning all new trades along the way, from tree felling and excavating to plumbing and landscaping. In this episode, I took on a huge amount of work — completely solo. I: 🌲 Cut down three trees (including one that refused to fall) 🪨 Built a rock retaining wall 🔥 Moved heavy logs for future firewood 🏡 Backfilled around our foundation 💧 And fixed a critical mistake with our well pump installation — a mistake that could’ve gotten me charged if I hadn’t caught it in time. This journey is full of challenges, surprises, and steep learning curves — but I’m figuring it out one task at a time.
