Winter on the homestead is relentless, and after months of trailer living in the deep Canadian cold, things are starting to break down. This week, I’m tackling a long list of repairs—dealing with frozen equipment, fixing what the brutal weather has worn down, and making sure everything stays functional in these harsh conditions. Meanwhile, my wood boiler is due for some much-needed maintenance, so I’m cleaning it out, checking for buildup, and making sure it’s running as efficiently as possible. But before I can even think about restocking it, I have to deal with our firewood piles, which are buried under layers of compacted snow and ice. Digging them out and breaking apart the frozen logs is no easy task, but the heat depends on it! And in between all of that, I’m still working on drywall mudding inside the house, smoothing out joints and making progress on finishing the interior. It’s a chaotic mix of maintenance, problem-solving, and hard work, but that’s just part of winter homesteading. #simpleliving #homebuild #homestead #diy #woodboiler
