The workshop of dreams, where cherished possessions are returned to their former glory. Nestled deep in the British countryside is The Repair Shop, where broken and battered beloved artefacts, antiques, and curios are brought back to life. Led by furniture restorer Jay Blades, The Repair Shop is an extraordinary workspace featuring a dedicated team of skilled and passionate craftspeople β everybody from horologists and ceramicists to upholsterers. Every object tells a unique story and each episode is packed with engaging tales, a social history of where these objects came from, and what it means to their owners to see them lovingly repaired and restored. Ultimately, the series provides the perfect antidote to modern throwaway culture and shines a light on the wonderful treasures to be found in homes across the country.

The tiny footprints are those of their son David who died aged just 5 months. David, one of twin boys with brother Joshua, was born prematurely in February 2020 but diagnosed with a rare heart condition just a few months later. In his final weeks Emese and Luke made the clay imprints of David's footprints, but now the material has cracked. Kirsten has a delicate and sensitive repair on her hands and begins the process by stabilising the existing clay and providing a barrier onto which she can build in new filler for the cracks. Working methodically, Kirsten prepares a number of filler options before selecting the perfect colour and finish to blend in with the existing clay. The second restoration falls to electronics whizz Mark Stuckey who's faced with disassembling and repairing a Russian-built portable radio brought in by hairdresser Karl. Presenting a small radio unit, Karl explains that the item belonged to his father Enoch, a pioneer in Black British hairdressing who owned numerous salons and hairdressing schools from the 1970s onwards. For Karl and his brothers the radio recalls vivid memories of their father's shop where he would sing along to his favourite songs and entertain customers. But now Mark has the challenging task of getting this radio β that has been silent for three decades, back in working order β so that Karl β and his brothers Duncan and Cordell β can once again hear the evocative tone of their father's salon radio in full blast. Last to arrive at the barn is Debbie with a special soulmate she's kept close her entire life. The teddy, gifted at birth and named McNem for reasons none of her family remembers, provided comfort for Debbie when her father passed away when she was just 12 years old. In later years, subsequent ill health of her own has left her relying on the little bear even more. With hardly any fur, a wonky leg and holes in his feet, toy restorers Julie Tatchell and Amanda Middleditch know just how important it is to get McNem fighting fit once again.
