Welcome to the Juniper Networks Introduction Series! If you’re like me, you’ve been networking for a while. Sooner or later, you will come across Juniper devices, and may find them to be quite different to what you’re used to. This series will build on the skill that you already have, to get you Juniper ready. It will also prepare you for the JNCIA-Junos exam, if that’s something that interests you. Each video is designed to be as short and to the point as possible. They are arranged into five categories; The Basics, Device Configuration, Architecture, Routing, and Monitoring/Troubleshooting. Each video comes with additional resources, including study notes, links for additional reading, labs, quizzes, and flashcards. #junipernetworks #networkdirection #networking #informationtechnology #junipernetworksintroduction

Juniper keeps copies of configuration backups, which is really handy if we make a mistake, and need to roll back some changes. Commit confirmed is a great option that avoids the need to roll back. Instead of just committing, this sets a timer. If you don’t confirm that you’re happy with your changes, Junos will roll back your changes automatically. When a config is committed, a copy of the config is compressed and stored in /config. The active config file is juniper.conf.gz. Similar files in here are backups of previous versions of the config. If we make a mistake, we can roll back to these previous backups. In configuration mode, use the ‘rollback x’ command to load a particular backup number into the candidate config. Once the candidate config has the rolled back config, it can be made active with ‘commit’. Optionally, use the ‘save’ and ‘load’ commands to make and restore your own backups manually.
