Welcome to the Juniper Networks Introduction Series! If you’re like me, you’ve been networking for a while. Sooner or later, you will come across Juniper devices, and may find them to be quite different to what you’re used to. This series will build on the skill that you already have, to get you Juniper ready. It will also prepare you for the JNCIA-Junos exam, if that’s something that interests you. Each video is designed to be as short and to the point as possible. They are arranged into five categories; The Basics, Device Configuration, Architecture, Routing, and Monitoring/Troubleshooting. Each video comes with additional resources, including study notes, links for additional reading, labs, quizzes, and flashcards. #junipernetworks #networkdirection #networking #informationtechnology #junipernetworksintroduction

Ping and traceroute are very similar to Linux. Try using ‘traceroute monitor’, which continually monitors a path, and updates stats in real time. Logs are stored in /var/log. In particular, the messages log is very useful. The ‘monitor’ command is useful for tracking logs contents in real-time. It’s like using ‘tail -f’ in linux. ‘Monitor interface’ and ‘monitor interface traffic’ can show us real-time stats of interfaces. Trace options are like debugs, and are used to write troubleshooting data to a log file that we can configure. Sooner or later you’re going to need to call JTAC for support. When you do, it will save you time if you have already collected logging information that they will need.
