Original music for my game, Out of Touch! Check it out, it's free! www.patreon.com/story_anon Composer comments: I wanted to make a blend between Outrun (which is a fast and "sparkly" kind of Synthwave, as you might have guessed inspired by the classic game), and the classic, heavy, gritty, and violent Carpenter Brut sound, with huge distorted basses. I started this project by working on the "heavy drop" first, figuring out the sound design of the heavy bass (which is the most recognizable element of the track). Once I got that, I worked on its melody, making it groovy, aggressive, and catchy. After completing a first sketch of the heavy part of the track, I started working on the more outrun-ish part. For the sound design of the song, this time, I used a combination of both digital and analog synthesizers. I went for a few digital synths to add that sharpness and heaviness the track needed. The song starts with an atmospheric intro, which evolves into the "outrun drop". I didn't start right away with the heaviest part of the track because, in my opinion, it would've sounded too different from the rest of the soundtrack. So I decided to start with a more similar style to the rest of the songs. After the outrun part, there's a short break, with huge war drums building tension. After that comes the nasty, heavy, super bassy part. I created a lot of variations throughout this section, keeping it groovy and interesting. This section then evolves adding a bit more melody, until the "chorus" comes. For the chorus I wanted to blend both the style together, giving a more melodic footprint to the track. After the chorus, there's a more atmospheric (yet full of rhythm) part that once again builds tension for the final chorus. Finally, after the final chorus, the track dissolves into a huge, cathedral-style, reverb. After the track was finalized, I touched up the mix making sure both the drums and bass felt powerful enough, and then mastered it very loud, to go with the overall genre aesthetic.
