Curated by: Ontology Explained: Philosophy and AI (109 videos)
In this video, we explore two core ideas in reasoning and argumentation: the Principle of Charity and the Straw Man Fallacy. These concepts aren’t just for philosophers—they’re about being better thinkers, listeners, and communicators. We’ll connect them to three timeless virtues: Try your best → Present arguments in their strongest form (Principle of Charity). Be kind → Avoid misrepresenting others (Straw Man Fallacy). Be honest → Balance fairness with truth, even things aren't so cut and dried. Along the way, we’ll look at real-life examples, common mistakes, and practical strategies for reasoning well and avoiding unfair argumentation. If you want to sharpen your logical thinking, have more productive discussions, and stay focused on truth instead of “winning,” this video is for you.
