More than a progressive rock album, it is a work that blends pop, rock, electronic music, and orchestral arrangements with an elegance that was uncommon for its time. Behind its sophisticated sound lies meticulous production. This is no coincidence: before forming The Alan Parsons Project, Alan Parsons had worked as a sound engineer on landmark albums such as Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon and The Beatles’ Abbey Road. That experience can be heard in every detail of this record. Songs such as Eye in the Sky, Silence and I, Old and Wise, and the iconic instrumental introduction Sirius show that this is an album that does not rely solely on its hits. Each track contributes something different, creating an experience that is far more rewarding when listened to from beginning to end. Although I had known Sirius and Eye in the Sky for many years, this was the first time I listened to the complete album.
