Songs such as Free At Dawn, No Stranger, Breathless, Only A Shadow, and Limits of Desire combine synthesizers, pulsing bass, guitars, and ethereal vocals to create a deeply nocturnal and melancholic atmosphere. An interesting detail is that the album cover itself works almost as a visual representation of its concept: two people separated by a ladder, close to each other but unable to come completely together, reflecting the album's themes of connection, distance, and communication. One of the album's greatest strengths is its production. The band moved away from much of the homemade sound of their earlier work and developed a much clearer production, incorporating live drums, electric guitar, and trumpet into their palette of synthesizers and textures. Canciones como Free At Dawn, No Stranger, Breathless, Only A Shadow y Limits of Desire combinan sintetizadores, bajos pulsantes, guitarras y voces etéreas para construir una atmósfera profundamente nocturna y melancólica. Un dato curioso es que la propia portada del álbum funciona como una especie de representación visual de su concepto: dos personas separadas por una escalera, cercanas pero incapaces de acercarse completamente, una imagen relacionada con las ideas de conexión, distancia y comunicación que recorren el disco. Uno de los grandes méritos del álbum es su producción. La banda dejó atrás buena parte del sonido más casero de sus primeros trabajos para construir una producción mucho más clara, incorporando batería acústica, guitarra eléctrica y trompeta a su paleta de sintetizadores y texturas.
