I left Prague, Czechia, and boarded a bus on my own to my next destination — Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. Back in 1918, Slovakia and Czechia became part of a country called Czechoslovakia. To be honest, before this trip, I knew almost nothing about Slovakia. It isn’t as popular as Austria or Czechia, and it rarely appears on most travelers’ bucket lists. But that’s exactly what made me even more curious about it. Located in the heart of Europe, Slovakia is home to more than a hundred castles and is often called the “Land of Castles.” It was once an important part of the Kingdom of Hungary and has witnessed countless chapters of European history.
