This is part one of two about MUTiRiS's career. MUTiRiS is a veteran of the Portuguese Counter-Strike scene. Back in CS 1.6 he was playing in k1ck, the most famous squad of the country, with the legendary AWP talent fox. During this time a notable upset was beating a German mousesports line-up that while featuring a stand-in was also the last ever tournament performance of now sadly departed star cyx. In CS:GO MUTiRiS has moved around as needs have required. He has played with Spanish talents in Giants and at one point even teamed up with Poles in Kinguin. He was a part of the Giants line-up, along with roman and fox, that at BLAST Madrid 2019 was able to beat NiP and almost defeated Cloud9 and ENCE in the group stage. Tier one play began to take a serious uptick for MUTiRiS and his teams in CS2. They qualified for the PGL Copenhagen major, defeating the likes of FNATIC and NiP to do so. Later that same 2024 his underdog side shocked the world with wins over MongolZ and BIG to reach the main event of IEM Cologne. There the upsets didn't stop, as a win over EWC finalists G2 and another MongolZ scalp had SAW through to the group winners' match. Despite taking nuke off NAVI the Portuguese were forced to settle for a Ro6 spot. There they blew many minds by taking down FaZe in three, with MUTiRiS himself pulling off a memorable 1v4 clutch at the lower site of nuke to help turn the series. SAW lost to eventual winners Vitality in the semis but that top four rang loud. A few months later SAW won ESL Challenger Katowice beating a number of known squads. SAW narrowly missed out on making the Perfect World Shanghai major. 2025 has been a mixed bag. A play-off run at PGL Cluj-Napoca, top four at FISSURE Playground 1 and a third place finish at PGL Bucharest have been the high water marks and SAW collected many notable scalps at the latter event. In part one, MUTiRiS talks about the early days, becoming an IGL, bouncing around different national scenes and the IEM Cologne run that provided the best day of his life.
