Enrol to our Review Center: https://www.facebook.com/share/1AC24Wsb9v/?mibextid=wwXIfr SITUATION: A 5.4-m simply-supported rectangular concrete beam has dimension 300 mm by 500 mm, 10-mm stirrups with 40 mm concrete cover. It is to carry an unfactored uniform dead load of 10 kN/m (including self-weight) and unfactored live load of 20 kN/m. Use fy = 420 MPa for main bars, 280 MPa for stirrups and f’c = 30 MPa for concrete. It is to be designed as singly reinforced beam with 20-mm diameter bars. 1. Calculate the factored uniform load (kN/m) the beam has to carry. A. 44 C. 52 B. 36 D. 68 2. Calculate the nominal bending moment (kN-m). A. 160.4 C. 188.2 B. 116.3 D. 147.2 3. Calculate the required number of 20-mm diameter bars to be placed at tension side. A. 3 C. 4 B. 6 D. 5 Thanks for watching! Comment for questions and suggestions for future lecture in this series.
