Curated by: History and Politics With Dr. Brovkin (115 videos)
This is a brief outline of Ukrainian history after the demise of the Soviet Union. The key question is: What went wrong, when and why? How to explain the fact that a Soviet republic of 52 million people with highly developped industry, agriculture lost all of that, with industries going bankrupt, withmillions going abroad in search of jobs. Why did privatization led not to florishin private enterprise but to dismantling of industry, and selling it off to Western investors? Why did the Ukrainian farmers got nothing in a capitalist Ukraine and all the land went to Western owners? And all of that before 2022. Dr.Brovkin is a Russian born American Historian, now retired, who served as a Professor of Soviet History at Harvard University, published eight books on the history of Russia, among them Russia After Lenin and his latest: From Vladimir Lenin to Vladimir Putin, Russia in Search of Its Identity 1913-2023 (London Routledge 2023) All except oneof his books are available on Amazon.com.
