Currently Playing: Best way to learn & teach history

Our brain remembers stories about people that we find interesting. Our brains are not that good with dates that seem random. Historical novels are a great way to get started learning a historical era. Eg. Quo Vadis by Sienkiewicz for learning about Rome. Poland by Michener about Poland. Trinity by Leon Uris about Ireland. Gone with the Wind about USA in 1861-1865. The historical novel provides an emotional gut feeling about the time. Then the documentaries, dvd courses, survey books help to fill in the gaps.
