He wants it, so he gits it." Luke was forced to dig a hole, and then fill it back in again. The school equivalent of this is to make students memorize meaningless, disconnected stuff like lists of vocabulary words; that student & teacher both know the student's going to forget within a week. In comparison, real learning is something you seek. You want to remember it long term.
