Russia did not invade Ukraine with a useless military. It invaded with a military built for the wrong kind of war. In this video, I break down what the Russian Army was designed to do before 2022, from post-Soviet reforms and Battalion Tactical Groups to contract soldiers, armor-heavy assumptions, artillery doctrine, and the prestige role of the VDV. The key problem was that Moscow expected speed, shock, weak Ukrainian resistance, limited Western response, and rapid political collapse in Kyiv. Instead, Ukraine forced Russia into a long war of logistics, attrition, mobilization, and adaptation. Russia built one kind of army, and Ukraine forced it to become another. 🧠Join my Patreon and get weekly reports on what's going on in the world! https://patreon.com/CalebMcMurtrey ☕️ Interested in supporting the channel?
