Russia failed to win air superiority over Ukraine, but that did not make Russian airpower irrelevant. In this video, I break down why the Russian Aerospace Forces could not suppress Ukrainian air defenses, dominate the skies, or conduct the kind of deep air campaign many expected from a major military power. But instead of disappearing from the war, Russia adapted. It shifted toward long-range missiles, mass drone attacks, tactical aviation near the front, and especially glide bombs launched from outside Ukraine’s most dangerous air-defense zones. The key point is that Russia could not do the sophisticated version of airpower well, so it found a cheaper, heavier, more attritional substitute. The sky over Ukraine was denied, but it was never safe. 🧠Join my Patreon and get weekly reports on what's going on in the world! https://patreon.com/CalebMcMurtrey ☕️ Interested in supporting the channel?
