In short, the things you want to make sure of when leaving your goldfish for extended periods of time is that the water is kept clean and they have a source of nutrition. There are several ways to achieve this and this is just what I like to do. Keeping the water cold, keeping the feeding to a minimum with an auto-feeder, and using a chemical mixture to keep the water parameters more in check is what I have found to work.
