In this video I show you guys one way you can build a super easy and cheap pond filter. All you need is a pump and hose to pump water into the filter, and you will have particle filtration and biological filtration which are honestly the only important aspects of a filter. The only downside to this system is that particle filtration happens after biological filtration meaning particles do build up in the media and make maintenance a little harder when its time to clean out the filter. However, if you store the media in bags as I show here, its really quite simple to rinse out the media and clean up the filter when needed.
